ABOUT RADIUM ENGINEERING CATCH CANS Radium Engineering catch cans feature oversized 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, two-stage oil separation baffles, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. These kits install using factory holes and integrate seamlessly with surrounding components. They do NOT vent to atmosphere (VTA), so they are emissions compliant and track legal. Closed loop systems remove oil and sludge from the PCV gasses before they ever reach the engine for combustion. A closed loop system also promotes negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Additionally, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the cabin. The integrated dipsticks on the catch cans allow for easy inspection of the accumulated fluid. No cutting, drilling or permanent modifications are required. OVERVIEW Radium Engineering offers two different oil catch can kits for the R35: *The 20-0565 PCV line kit mounts near the brake master cylinder at the rear of the engine bay and plumbs into the hose going from the PCV valve on the engine to the intake manifold (vacuum). NOTE: The PCV kit is NOT a direct fit for 08-11 GT-R's that did not have an OEM strut bar. *The 20-0555 crankcase vent kit mounts at the front of the engine and plumbs into the vent lines coming from the cylinder heads going to the turbo intake piping. This kit contains two oil catch cans (one for each cylinder head vent). These two kits can be purchased separately or together. When deciding which kit (or kits) to purchase, it is important to remember that both kits working together offer the most protection against oil ingestion into the engine. The PCV side kit is effective at preventing oil from entering the intake manifold when the PCV valve is open, such as during steady-state driving, idling, etc. Once turbo pressure builds, the PCV valve closes and all engine blow-by gasses exit through the cylinder head breather vents. For this reason, it is advisable to install oil catch cans to the crankcase breather vents.

20-0555 Dual Catch Can Kit, CCV, Nissan R35 GT-R. To maintain factory functionality, the two CCV catch cans are installed in-line between each crankcase vent (CCV) port and corresponding turbo inlets.

At low loads, these catch cans are under atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is under high load (WOT), these vents experience high air flow from the crankcase. This would normally lead to oil and sludge building up in the air filter intake pipe. Oil accumulation will then occur in the intercooler, which decreases the heat exchanger's thermal efficiency and decreases performance.
NOTES: 1. The dual catch can kit for the CCV system does NOT fix blow-by from the PCV valve side of the crankcase. 2. The dual catch can kit for the CCV system is compatible and recommended for use with the PCV valve catch can kit.
