The Mishimoto Baffled Oil Catch Can for the BMW N55 is designed to reduce carbon buildup, a common issue in direct-injected N55 engines. This kit utilizes the proven technology of the Mishimoto Compact 2-Port Baffled Oil Catch Can, featuring its bronze filter and internal baffle, to better separate oil from crankcase vapors. Mishimoto engineers designed a CNC-machined top with large inlet and outlet ports to match the internal dimensions of the crankcase ventilation (CCV) system hose. This baffled oil catch can will protect the intercooler, intake system, and VANOS system from oil blow-by and will help maintain proper octane levels to reduce potential detonation. The kit includes two direct-fit hoses, which require no modifications to the engine cover, and a direct-fit mounting bracket that is not only extremely easy to install but also places the can in an easily accessible location. Two CNC-machined 3/4" aluminum fittings connect the hoses to the can. And, like all Mishimoto oil catch cans, this baffled kit includes the Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty. Our oil catch cans differ from most air-oil separator (AOS) systems in a few ways. First, our cans are not heated. This means that all the blow-by can condense in the can, including low-octane oil vapors and contaminated fuel vapors. Most AOS systems also drain the blow-by back into the oil pan, while our cans trap it and keep it out of the engine permanently. If you have seen what we have seen at the bottom of our cans, you would not want that draining back into your oil either.
