Wiseco ZRP forged pistons for Mitsubishi 4G63 EVO 4-9 Bore - 85.25 mm 9.0:1 / 8.52:1 94 mm x 156 mm

ZRP, in collaboration with Wiseco, has created a new and exclusive series of pistons manufactured in the USA using 2618 alloy. These pistons share many advanced features with the Wiseco HD1400 series for extremely high-power configurations.

They include upgraded pins with a 5.34 mm wall thickness and Armor Plating coating to reduce the negative effects of intense heat in turbocharged and nitrous/methanol setups. Each ZRP piston for this application incorporates an ArmorGlide anti-friction coating on the skirt to minimize wear during break-in and reduce friction on the cylinder wall. Our pistons are manufactured using proprietary forgings, which provides a lightweight piston with superior strength and an optimal design. Additionally, the valve pockets are larger and deeper than those in original pistons to accommodate high-lift camshafts. Furthermore, the pistons feature offset pins and anti-detonation and gas pressure grooves to prolong the life of the rings.

What is Armor Plating coating?

The Armor Plating coating gives them a bronze tone on the top and in the piston pin hole. This abrasion-resistant coating increases the hardness of the aluminum, improves the durability of the ring grooves, prevents piston ring micro-welding, reduces carbon buildup, and fights detonation corrosion. Additionally, the Armor Plating coating reduces the temperature of the piston head by an average of 20°C.

What is the ArmorGlide anti-friction piston skirt coating?

The ArmorGlide piston skirt coating is made with a molybdenum solid-film lubricant and is permanently bonded to the pistons. One of its main features is resistance to scuffing and friction reduction, which ensures quiet operation. Naturally, piston rocking and noise are reduced, and power is increased.
