Superlite 6R Narrow Radial Mount Forged Caliper

The Forged Narrow Superlite 6R (FNSL6R) caliper is our newest version of the venerable Superlite caliper series. It adds the versatility and convenience of radial mounting to this popular caliper group. Radial mounting simplifies adaptation and provides two planes of adjustment for precise alignment over the rotor. These calipers integrate big brake style with Wilwood’s latest technology for high-performance braking in extreme environments on a wide range of vehicles.

Key to the FNSL6R’s superior performance is an extremely durable and efficient body design. Weighing in at an initial 4.9 pounds, it is the product of computer generated solid modeling and FEA stress analysis technology.

The most significant feature of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billets. This process re-aligns the internal metallic grain structure of the metal to flow within the contour of the caliper body. This process eliminates the stresses and interruptions in the internal grain structure that are found when machining a straight block. In short, there is no better way to build a stronger aluminum caliper body. A unique six piston, differential bore configuration provides balanced loading for even pad wear in sustained high temperature environments. Standard FNSL6R calipers feature one-piece stainless steel pistons. Stainless is used for its low heat transfer properties and high resistance to corrosion. Calipers can be upgraded with Wilwood’s proprietary Thermlock pistons. This multi-piece piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads into the caliper body, seals, and fluid.
