PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
We offer two N55 intercooler options. This MMR high-performance intercooler for BMW M2, M135i, M235i, 335i, and 435i with the N55 engine improves power and torque by substantially reducing intake air temperatures compared to the original cooling system. Thanks to its enormous stepped bar and plate core, it offers almost double the volume of the original unit and a 70% larger frontal surface.
The factory intercooler on N55 engines has proven unable to withstand the demands of high-powered and sportily driven vehicles, resulting in significant power losses during demanding driving due to increased air temperatures and the long cooldown times required.
Our high-performance intercooler, with its enormous stepped bar and plate core, offers almost double the volume of the original unit and a 70% larger frontal surface. A truly significant difference. The stepped core uses internal turbulators to improve its cooling performance, and the CFD-optimized end tanks help maintain the best possible airflow through the core.
We offer two types of intercoolers for N55 FX vehicles. In addition to this "High Performance" version, we offer our "Competition" unit, which uses a tube and fin construction. We recommend this High Performance version for most road applications, as its greater mass (which is beneficial for an intercooler) provides greater thermal capacity for long journeys, and it is also the most economical option.
Due to the large size of this bar and plate core and a higher material ratio than our Competition core, this High Performance unit weighs 11 kg, but still provides the best possible solution when consistent power and low intake air temperatures are required. Our development focused on finding the optimal balance between maximum intake air temperature cooling and minimum pressure drop. This has allowed us to increase the size without increasing lag.
