Modifying 2.0 TSI/TFSI EA888 Gen 3 engines, which far exceed factory power levels, requires a higher volume of high-pressure fuel to prevent supply cuts, especially at mid-range RPMs.
In many cases, the factory fuel pump begins to suffer pressure losses.
The volume of fuel that the high-pressure pump can supply depends on the volume displaced by the pressurizing cylinder inside it.
This upgrade replaces the internal parts responsible for the pressure and volume of fuel reaching the injectors to meet the demands of higher power.
The tolerances involved, such as the final surface finish of the piston inside the fuel pump, are so critical that it can be damaged by touching it with bare hands.
The tolerances between the piston and the new sleeve it slides into can only be measured with a machine that uses air volumes to measure part clearances with microscopic precision.
The coordinate measuring machine (CMM) is a device for measuring the physical geometric characteristics of an object and was successfully used in this case.
It includes detailed instructions with step-by-step images for installation, all necessary components, and a complete installation sheet to facilitate the work.
