Intake Air Control: Simplified
The Compressed Gas BoostGate50 takes Turbosmart's award-winning electronic BoostGate and simplifies the control system with a diaphragm actuator specifically designed for use with compressed gas/CO2 boost controllers. In addition to a custom high-pressure Nomex diaphragm, the Compressed Gas BoostGate50 integrates both fill & dump solenoids for seamless control integration.
Unlike traditional external wastegates, which divert exhaust gases around the turbine housing to reduce turbocharger shaft speed and, consequently, boost levels, intake air control is a controlled bleed of the compressed air on the cold side of the turbocharger system (i.e., boost). Mounted on the intake piping, the Compressed Gas BoostGate50 allows for boost pressure to be modulated directly, rather than the indirect method of traditional hot-side boost control.
Intake air control is especially suited for applications such as drag racing, where turbocharger specifications are already optimised, and the turbine housing is not limiting performance (i.e., engine pressure ratio is less than 1). Turbosmart BoostGate valves utilise a zero-offset butterfly valve that allows for incredible resolution, huge flow, and the boost control necessary to achieve a perfect pass every time.
