The Golf GTI is the original hot hatch, but even after seven generations, this sensational vehicle still needs help to maintain optimal temperatures. At Mishimoto, we're eager to redesign the MK7 radiator to optimize its performance. The stock radiator is adequate for daily driving in any Golf variant and other MQB platform models. However, its design underperforms in more demanding conditions. The thin core, along with plastic end tanks, also make it prone to cracking and leaking over time. For the Mishimoto Performance Radiator, we started from the ground up, beginning with an all-aluminum construction. From the mounting points to the inlet and outlet, the aluminum end tanks are designed to stand the test of time. With precision TIG-welding to the core, Mishimoto's design significantly reduces the likelihood of leaks in the long run. To further increase strength, we've incorporated reinforcements into the core's coolant tubes, making this radiator much more resistant to twisting and flexing, virtually eliminating the risk of core damage. Durability wasn't the only improvement we had in mind; we also wanted to ensure more efficient coolant temperature regulation for your Golf's engine. To do this, we enlarged the core to 1.65", along with precise adjustments to the fin design, resulting in a 56% increase in core volume and a 76% increase in external fin surface area. Combined with our 4.5mm fin height and louvered fin technology, this radiator is capable of reducing overall coolant temperatures for a consistently cool hot-hatch.
