Pipe shields solve the problem of needing spot heat protection for exhaust pipes and components.
Extreme heat can reduce horsepower and damage engines, transmissions, hoses, and sensitive electrical components. DEI, the market leader in thermal protection, has introduced a revolutionary breakthrough in pipe shield technology that far surpasses Mylar-backed fiberglass shields. DEI's Titanium Pipe Shield combines the high heat tolerance of DEI's proprietary LR fiber technology with a unique riveted-standoff shield design for improved heat dissipation and cooling. Fiberglass shields can begin to fail at 482 °C (900 °F), with the Mylar outer material cracking and flaking off. DEI's Titanium Pipe Shield provides thermal protection up to 879 °C (1350 °F).
LR fiber technology is a two-layer material. The outer layer is constructed from pulverized volcanic rock, stranded and woven into a proprietary tight weave for durability and strength. The inner material is made from a special high-temperature resistant fabric (89% silica) designed to withstand 350 degrees more heat than fiberglass. This proprietary fiber technology, combined with DEI's unique stand-off bracket design, creates an air gap between the shield and the pipe that, together, provides the maximum cooling and heat dissipation potential.
By strategically placing DEI's Titanium Pipe Shield near transmissions, brake lines, floorboards, body panels, diesel exhaust pipes, or motorcycle pipes, radiant heat can be controlled for maximum protection and performance. Other uses include isolated areas such as sections of exhaust after the manifold, areas that can heat transmission fluid, or along the exhaust system run near fuel tanks, differentials, and rear bumpers. The shield is designed for multiple automotive applications, as well as marine, powersports, diesel, and industrial applications where heat dissipation and thermal control are required.
