Superlite 6R Narrow Forged Radial Mount Brake Caliper
The Forged Narrow Superlite 6R/ST (FNSL6R/ST) caliper is our newest version of the venerable Superlite caliper series. It adds the versatility and convenience of radial mounting to this popular caliper group. Radial mounting simplifies adaption and provides two planes of adjustment for precise alignment over the rotor. These calipers integrate Wilwood’s latest technology, and the addition of Thermlock® pistons to generate big braking power in extreme high temperature environments across a broad range of applications for racing and street performance.
The key to the superior performance of the FNSL6R series caliper is the durable and efficient body design.
At an initial weight of 4.9 pounds, it is the result of solid modeling computer generated design and FEA stress analysis technology. The most notable feature of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy stock. This process re-aligns the internal grain structure of the metal to flow within the contour of the caliper body. This process eliminates the stress and interruption of the internal grain structure that occurs when machining a straight block. In short, there is no better way to build a stronger aluminum caliper body. A unique six piston differential bore configuration provides balanced loading for even pad wear in sustained high temperature environments. FNSL6R/ST calipers feature Wilwood’s exclusive Thermlock® pistons. This multi-piece piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads into the caliper body, seals, and fluid. Cooler temperatures mean longer service life and less chance of pedal fade from heat.Pistons
