Superlite 6R Forged Narrow Radial Mount Brake Caliper
The Forged Narrow Superlite 6R/ST (FNSL6R/ST) caliper is our newest version of the venerable Superlite caliper series. It adds the versatility and convenience of radial mounting to this popular caliper group. Radial mounting simplifies adaption and provides two planes of adjustment for precise alignment over the rotor. These calipers integrate Wilwood’s latest technology and the addition of Thermlock insulated pistons to generate big stopping power in extreme high temperature environments across a broad range of applications for racing and performance vehicles.
Key to the superior performance of the FNSL6R series caliper is its high strength, extremely efficient body design.
Starting at 4.9 pounds, it is the result of computer generated solid modeling and FEA stress analysis technology. The most distinguishing characteristic of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy. This process realigns the internal grain structure of the metal to flow within the contour of the caliper body. This process eliminates the stresses and interruptions to the internal grain structure that occur when machining straight block. Simply stated, there is no stronger way to build an aluminum caliper body. A unique six piston differential bore configuration provides balanced loading for even pad wear in sustained high temperature environments. FNSL6R/ST calipers incorporate Wilwood’s exclusive Thermlock pistons. This multi-piece piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body, seals, and fluid. Cooler temperatures mean longer life and reduced chances of pedal fade due to heat.Pistons
