Superlite 6R Forged Radial Mount
FSL6R/ST calipers offer the pad wear performance advantages of differential bore pistons, with the option of maximum thermal protection from Thermlock® pistons on ST models. Differential bores compensate for the mechanical loads on the leading edge and temperature variations across the pad face to provide even pad wear in sustained high temperature applications. Thermlock® pistons on ST caliper models retard heat transfer from the pads and reduce temperatures in the caliper, fluid, and seals by as much as 25% over standard stainless steel pistons. With a Type III hard anodized finish, these calipers are ideally suited for all types of sustained hard braking on dirt and asphalt ovals, as well as a wide range of road racing, rally, and off-road applications. The FSL6R model has been redesigned with internal fluid ports that eliminate external fluid transfer tubes. The transfer tube has been replaced with two additional bleeder screw assemblies that allow the differential bore models to be oriented for either right or left hand mounting without the need for a front or rear specific set-up. The highlight feature of all FSL6R caliper models is the exceptional strength and reduced weight of the forged body. Weighing in at only 4.4 pounds, the caliper body design is itself the product of solid modeling computer aided design and stress analysis technology. Each caliper features closed-end bridges with a radial transition into the main body and piston bore housings. The elimination of machined steps and sharp edges in this critical area provides a substantial increase in overall body strength and resistance to deflection under load. Each FSL6R body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy.
