Superlite 4 Forged Radial Mount
FSL4R/ST calipers offer the pad wear performance advantages of differential bore pistons, with the option for maximum thermal protection provided by Thermlock® pistons on ST models. Differential piston bores compensate for the leading edge mechanical loads and trailing edge temperature variances across the pad face to reduce tapered pad wear in sustained high heat applications. Thermlock® pistons in the ST models block heat transfer from the pads to reduce caliper, fluid, and seal temperatures by as much as 25% over standard stainless steel pistons. With a wear resistant type III hard anodized finish, these calipers are ideal for all types of heavy duty sustained braking on dirt and asphalt ovals, as well as a wide range of road racing, rally, and off-road applications. The FSL4R has been redesigned with internal fluid ports that eliminate external fluid transfer tubes. The transfer tube has been replaced with two additional bleeder screw assemblies that allow the differential bore models to have both left and right hand orientation, without the need for a front or rear specific setup. The most significant feature of all FSL4R caliper models is the exceptional strength and light weight of the forging. Weighing only 4.4 pounds fully assembled, the caliper body design is itself a product of computer generated solid modeling and stress analysis technology. Each caliper features closed end bridges with a radial transition into the main body and piston bore housings. The elimination of machined steps and sharp corners in this critical area provides a substantial increase to overall body strength and resistance to deflection under load.
