D8-6 Front Caliper
D8-6 front calipers are a direct bolt-on 6-piston replacement for the factory original 4-piston front calipers on all 1965-1982 Corvettes. Forged aluminum bodies, stainless steel pistons, and high-temperature seals provide an immediate performance upgrade and put an end to the rust, corrosion, and seal failure issues that plague the original cast iron caliper design.
D8-6 calipers mount in the original location over the original rotors and use the OE D8 type brake pads. These calipers will fit 1967-later rally type steel wheels and most aftermarket alloy wheels. Original 1965-66 "JK" code steel wheels, and some aftermarket alloy wheel replicas, require a 3/16" or thicker wheel spacer for proper clearance.
D8-6 calipers utilize the same overall piston volume as the original calipers, but with the added advantage of differential bores. The differential bores help offset pad wear in high-temperature track day applications and the 6-piston design provides additional pad support. Other than a new flex line with a 1/8"-27 NPT end for the new aluminum caliper, no other changes such as master cylinder output or front/rear bias adjustments are required. class="Gray11B">6Rotor Dimensions
