D154 Single & Dual Piston Floating Caliper
Wilwood’s D154 forged caliper is a high strength, lightweight, and extreme duty direct bolt-on alternative to the OE cast iron calipers used on a wide range of mid-size GM cars and small trucks equipped with factory disc brakes beginning in 1978. Use of this caliper can still be found on some GM models through the 2002 model year. The wide availability and affordable pricing of the D154 calipers and brake pad compounds also made it a popular choice in a number of restricted class racing categories and drum-to-disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street machines.
There are three piston configurations available for the D154; a single large 2.50” piston, and two dual piston models with either 1.62/1.62” or 1.12/1.12” pistons. All three calipers utilize stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel pistons are used to resist corrosion and retard heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body. High-temperature square faced bore seals are used to provide controlled piston retraction and dependable performance with the greater sealing surface. This combination of components provides proven performance with long service life and a reliable performance history in any type of driving environment including sustained extreme temperature competition applications. The caliper slide pin bores are fitted with dampening rings to minimize rattle noise. The caliper is also fitted with bleed screws at both ends to facilitate mounting in any location, either left or right, with either leading front or trailing rear mounting.
