Wilwood’s D154-DS forged billet aluminum brake caliper is a direct bolt-on, lightweight, high-strength, extreme-duty alternative to the OE cast iron calipers that were used on a wide range of GM midsize cars and small trucks equipped with factory disc brakes beginning in 1978. Use of this caliper can still be found on some GM models through 2002. D154-DS calipers incorporate a unique dust seal to further protect the piston bore from dust and corrosion, allowing the caliper to be used in locations that demand an environmental sealing method. The wide availability and affordable pricing of D154-DS calipers and brake pads also made them a popular choice in various restricted competition categories and for drum-to-disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street vehicles. Large 2.50” stainless steel pistons are used to resist corrosion and retard heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body. High-temperature square-faced bore seals provide controlled piston retraction and reliable performance through increased seal surface area, and incorporate a unique dust seal to further protect the piston bore from dust and corrosion. This combination of components delivers proven performance, long service life, and a reliable performance record in any type of driving environment, including extreme, sustained temperature competition applications. The caliper slide pin bores are fitted with dampening rings to minimize vibration noise. The caliper also features bleeder screws at both ends to facilitate mounting in any location, either left or right, with leading front or trailing rear mounting.
