TC6 Radial Brake Caliper
The TC 6R radial brake caliper represents a new generation of refinement in Wilwood’s high-performance braking technology. Six stainless steel pistons housed in a massive, high-strength forged aluminum body generate the stopping power and durability to stylishly handle the heavy loads of late model custom trucks and SUV’s.
TC 6R calipers are stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billets. FEA structural analysis technology was employed to develop a design that minimizes weight and maximizes resistance to deflection. The enlarged bridge radius easily accommodates 1.38” thick rotors up to 16.00” in diameter. The bodies are joined and reinforced through the bridge with six high-strength coated alloy steel through-bolts. The through-bridge cross-bolts increase resistance against deflection and body separation at high pressures and heavy loads. Steel insert plates protect the bridges from wear and marking by the brake pad edges. Weighing in at a trim 8.6 pounds, the TC 6R generates unmatched pad clamping efficiency through six thick-walled stainless steel pistons. The thicker piston walls provide additional strength against deflection or warping under heavy load conditions. Stainless steel is used to resist corrosion and reduce heat transfer from the pads into the caliper body, seals, and fluid. The differential piston bore design is based on Wilwood’s race caliper technology. Clamping pressure is proportionally distributed to provide a balanced pad loading with even wear across all loads and temperatures. Piston bore volumes are configured for optimum compatibility with OE master cylinder and power boost systems.
