TC6 Radial Brake Caliper
The TC 6R radial brake caliper represents a new generation of refinement in Wilwood’s high performance braking technology. Six stainless steel pistons housed in a massive, high-strength forged aluminum body generate the braking power and durability needed to stylishly handle heavy loads of late model custom trucks and SUV’s.
TC 6R calipers are stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billets. FEA structural analysis technology was employed to develop a design that minimizes weight and maximizes deflection resistance. The enlarged bridge radius will readily accommodate 1.38” thick rotors up to 16.00” diameter. Bodies are joined and reinforced across the bridge with six high-strength coated alloy steel bolts. Bridge cross-bolts increase resistance against deflection and body separation at high pressures and heavy loads. Steel insert plates protect the bridges against wear and grooving from the brake pad edges. The TC 6R, starting at 8.6 pounds, generates unmatched pad clamping efficiency from six heavy wall stainless steel pistons. Thicker piston walls provide greater resistance against deflection or deformation under heavy loading. Stainless steel is used to resist corrosion and reduce heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body, seals, and fluid. The differential piston bore design is based on Wilwood’s race caliper technology. Clamping pressure is proportionally distributed to provide balanced pad loading with even wear across all loads and temperatures. Piston bore volumes are configured for optimum compatibility with OE master cylinder output capacities and power. Boost systems.
