Radial Mount Powerlite Caliper
The four piston Powerlite radial mount caliper weighs 2.26 pounds and features a sleek profile, superior strength, lightweight, and durability in high-heat situations. It readily adapts to a wide range of Sportsman, Rally, and Off-Road driving applications.
Strength comes from a combination of process and design. The true stress flow forging process realigns the metal’s granular structure to within the contour of the caliper body. This eliminates the stresses and interruptions in the internal granular structure that occur when machining from a straight block. The radial transition design generated through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) removes steps and shoulders in the area between the piston housing body and the caliper bridges.
Incorporating a radius in this critical area substantially increases resistance to deflection and caliper separation under load. The Powerlite system uses a new 7912 type brake pad, held from the top by Quick-clip pad retainers. This eliminates the need for additional support on the bottom of the caliper and provides additional clearance for closer hub mounting in applications with small wheels and rotors. Pad radius fits rotor diameters from 9.45” (240.0mm) to 11.75” (298.5mm), and the caliper readily adapts to many 13.00” (330.2mm) wheel applications. The quick release clips also allow for easy pad access without caliper disassembly.
