Radial Mount Powerlite Caliper
The Powerlite four-piston radial mount caliper weighs 2.26 pounds and features a sleek profile, superior strength, and lightweight durability in high-temperature situations. It easily adapts to a wide range of sport driving, rally, and off-road applications.
Strength comes from a combination of process and design. The actual stress flow forging process realigns the metal's granular structure within the caliper body contour. This eliminates stresses and interruptions in the internal granular structure that occur when machining a straight block. The radial transition design generated through finite element analysis (FEA) eliminates steps and shoulders in the area between the piston housing body and the caliper bridges.
Incorporating a radius in this critical area substantially increases resistance to deflection and caliper separation under load. The Powerlite system uses a new 7912 type brake pad, held from the top by Quick-clip pad retainers. This eliminates the need for an additional bracket on the bottom of the caliper and provides additional clearance for closer hub mounting in applications with small wheels and discs. The pad radius adjusts to rotor diameters between 9.45" (240.0 mm) and 11.75" (298.5 mm), and the caliper easily adapts to many 13.00" (330.2 mm) wheel applications. Quick-release clips also allow easy access to the pads without caliper disassembly.
