At a starting weight of 4.9 pounds, it is the result of computer generated solid modeling and FEA stress analysis technology.\u003c\/p\u003e The outstanding feature of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billets. This process realigns the internal grain structure of the metal to flow with the contour of the caliper body. It eliminates the stresses and interruptions to the internal grain structure that occur when machining a straight block. Simply put, there is no better way to make a stronger aluminum caliper body.\n\n\nAvailable in various piston diameters, it offers braking for both front and rear caliper applications. Standard FNSL4R calipers incorporate one-piece stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel is used for its low heat transfer properties and high resistance to corrosion. Calipers can be upgraded with Wilwood’s exclusive Thermlock® pistons. This multi-component piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body, seals, and fluid.
