Superlite 4R Forged Narrow Radial Mount Caliper
The Forged Narrow Superlite 4R (FNSL4R) is our newest version of the venerable Superlite caliper series. It adds the versatility and convenience of radial mounting to this popular caliper group. Radial mounting simplifies adaptation and provides two planes of adjustment for precise alignment over the rotor. These calipers integrate big brake styling with Wilwood’s latest technology to generate big stopping power in extreme environments and across a wide range of vehicle applications.
Key to the superior performance of the FNSL4R is its extremely durable and efficient body design. At a starting weight of 4.9 pounds, it is the result of computer generated solid modeling and FEA stress analysis technology.
The outstanding feature of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium grade aluminum alloy billets. This process realigns the internal grain structure of the metal to flow with the contour of the caliper body. It eliminates the stresses and interruptions to the internal grain structure that occur when machining a straight block. Simply put, there is no better way to make a stronger aluminum caliper body. Available in various piston diameters, it offers braking for both front and rear caliper applications. Standard FNSL4R calipers incorporate one-piece stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel is used for its low heat transfer properties and high resistance to corrosion. Calipers can be upgraded with Wilwood’s exclusive Thermlock® pistons. This multi-component piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body, seals, and fluid. Cooler temperatures translate to extended service life and reduced chance of pedal fade from heat.Rotor Dimensions
