Superlite 4R Forged Narrow Radial Mount Caliper
The Forged Narrow Superlite 4R (FNSL4R) is our newest iteration of the widely popular Superlite caliper series. It adds the versatility and convenience of radial mounting to this popular caliper group. Radial mounting simplifies adaptation and provides two planes of adjustment for precise alignment over the rotor. These calipers integrate "big brake" styling with Wilwood's latest technology to generate big stopping power in extreme environments across a wide range of vehicles.
The key to the superior performance of the FNSL4R lies in its extremely durable and efficient body design. At an initial weight of 4.9 pounds, it is the result of solid modeling generated by computer and FEA stress analysis technology.
The most outstanding feature of this new caliper design is the forging. Each body is stress-flow forged from premium-grade aluminum alloy billets. This process realigns the internal grain structure of the metal to match the contour of the caliper body. It eliminates the stresses and interruptions in the internal grain structure that occur when machining a straight block. In short, there is no better way to make a stronger aluminum caliper body. Available in different piston diameters, it offers braking for both front and rear calipers. Standard FNSL4R calipers feature one-piece stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel is used for its low heat transfer properties and high corrosion resistance. Calipers can be upgraded with Wilwood's exclusive Thermlock pistons. This multi-component piston design creates a highly efficient thermal barrier to further reduce heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body, seals, and fluid.
