Superlite 4 Radial Mount Forged
FSL4R/ST calipers offer the pad wear performance advantages of differential bore pistons, with the option for maximum thermal protection provided by Thermlock® pistons on ST models. Differential bore pistons compensate for leading edge mechanical loads and trailing edge pad surface temperature variations to provide even pad wear in sustained high heat applications. Thermlock® pistons in ST models impede heat transfer from the pads and reduce temperatures in the caliper, fluid, and seals by as much as 25% over standard stainless steel pistons. With a wear resistant Type III hard anodized finish, these calipers are ideal for all types of sustained hard braking on dirt and asphalt ovals, as well as a wide range of road racing, rally, and off-road applications. The FSL4R has been redesigned with internal fluid ports that eliminate the external fluid transfer tubes. The transfer tube has been replaced with two additional bleed screw assemblies allowing the differential bore models to have a left and right orientation, without the need for front or rear specific plumbing. The standout feature on all FSL4R caliper models is the exceptional strength and reduced weight of the forging. Weighing in at only 4.4 pounds fully assembled, the caliper body design itself is the product of computer generated solid modeling and stress analysis technology. Each caliper features closed-end bridges with a radial transition into the main body and piston bore housings. The elimination of machined steps and sharp edges in this critical area provides a substantial increase in overall body strength and resistance to deflection under load.
