D154 Single & Dual Piston Floating Caliper
Wilwood’s D154 Forged caliper is a high-strength, extreme-duty, lightweight, direct bolt-on alternative to the OE cast iron calipers that were used on a wide range of medium-duty GM cars and light trucks equipped with factory disc brakes beginning in 1978. Use of this caliper can still be found on some GM models through the 2002 model year. The wide availability and affordable price of D154 calipers and brake pad compounds also made it a popular choice in several restricted class competition categories and in drum to disc conversions on all types of hot rods and street machines.
Three piston configurations are available for the D154; a large single 2.50” piston and two two-piston models with either 1.62/1.62” or 1.12/1.12” pistons. All three calipers utilize stainless steel pistons. The stainless steel pistons are used to resist corrosion and retard heat transfer from the pads to the caliper body. High-temperature square face bore seals are used to provide controlled piston retraction and reliable performance through increased sealing surface area. This combination of components provides proven performance with long service life and a reliable performance history in any type of driving environment including sustained extreme temperature competition applications. The caliper slide pin bores are fitted with dampening rings to minimize vibration noise. The caliper is also equipped with bleed screws at both ends to facilitate mounting in any location, either left or right, with leading front or trailing rear mounting.
