For most asphalt and road racing applications, high-temperature compounds above 1000°F are generally required. Dirt track, drag racing, and high-performance street applications typically operate at temperatures between 500°F and 1000°F. Please note that these are general ranges and not absolute values. Many unforeseen factors and influences can affect brake temperatures. The best indicator for pad selection will always be track performance. If loss of friction (pad fade) occurs due to overheating, it may be necessary to improve cooling, use a heavier rotor, or use pads with a higher temperature range.
