This short shifter is designed to work with the original shift cables from various transmissions, BUT the cables need to be rerouted to run inside the vehicle. This works great for race cars with no interior as the hole in the tunnel can be closed off, and the cables are much safer inside the car. It's perfect for all older 02A and 02J transmissions, whether 5-speed or 6-speed cable-operated models. If your cable ends have different diameters, it will work. If your cables are two identical sizes, you need another model compatible with 02J/02M/02Q transmissions, which we also have available.
