Fuel is supplied to the tank via a lift pump, which in most cases is the vehicle’s OEM fuel pump. The volume of fuel within the tank acts as a reservoir to keep the FST pumps continually supplied, even if the lift pump momentarily runs out of fuel. This volume is maintained by the lift pump and fuel returning from the pressure regulator. Any excess fuel in the surge tank is returned to the vehicle’s main tank. The surge tank also offers a quick and simple way to upgrade any standard fuel system without having to open the OEM fuel tank. This is an excellent fueling solution for vehicles installing high-power upgrades, such as forced induction.

Multi-Pump Fuel Surge Tank (MPFST)

Recently redesigned for 2019, the Radium Engineering MPFST is the perfect solution for high-horsepower vehicles that experience fuel starvation during aggressive driving. Multiple high-flow fuel pumps can be used in the surge tank.

Thanks to compatible pumps utilizing a check valve, the MPFST integrates all pumps into a single output, simplifying external plumbing installation. NOTE: The brushless Ti Automotive E5LM MPFST includes check valves (shown below in green).

The "PUMP OUT" port is 10AN ORB threaded but comes pre-installed with a -8AN male adapter. The "OVERFLOW," "SUPPLY," and "RETURN" ports are 8AN ORB threaded but come pre-installed with -6AN male adapters. All these fittings can be swapped out for different size fittings (sold separately).

When fuel enters the MPFST through the "SUPPLY" and "RETURN" ports, it is redirected and circulated tangentially around the tank, creating a swirl. This helps to remove unwanted air bubbles and fuel froth that can impair fuel pump and engine performance.

Pumps are mounted with an anodized aluminum bracket. All internal wiring is compliant with gasoline, ethanol, and methanol. The brushless Ti Automotive E5LM MPFST (shown above) uses a standard push-on mesh filter, commonly included with the pump.

All other (brushed) pumps use the stainless steel mesh inlet screen for pre-filtration, shown above.

Pump power connections are made using specially designed high-current electrical studs. Necessary ring terminals and hardware are included with each surge tank.

As shown, the bottom of the MPFST is suitable for uneven surfaces, such as those commonly found in a vehicle's trunk. Stainless steel M6x1.0mm socket head cap screws are included for custom mounting.

PUMP SELECTION

The MPFST can be selected with or without fuel pumps installed. If the "Pumps Not Included" option is selected, the MPFST comes ready for the end-user to install 1, 2, or 3 pumps. NOTE: The brushless Ti Automotive E5LM MPFST is designed for 1 or 2 pumps (as shown below).

OPTIONS

20-0461 Fuel Level Sender, 1/8 NPT

20-0519 Fuel Level Sender with Diagnostic LED

Instructions PDF

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1027/4701/3460/files/mpfst-multi-pump-fuel-surge-tank-ti-automotive-e5lm-radium-engineering_66d7106d-bf8b-444e-a0f0-ecc7bed6beff.jpg?v=1788513321
https://www.thetunerlab.com/en/products/mpfst-tanque-de-compensacion-de-combustible-con-multiples-bombas-ti-automotive-e5lm-radium-engineering
