Product details
A blow-off valve reduces turbocharger response time and improves its reliability. The turbo compresses air into the intake. However, when the accelerator is released, the throttle valve closes and compressed air no longer enters the intake, leading to a significant increase in pressure in the intake system.
This phenomenon slows down the turbocharger and, consequently, lengthens its response time (which, in turn, increases wear).
The purpose of installing a blow-off valve is to quickly release this excess air pressure when the accelerator is released. The air is evacuated by the blow-off valve, either externally (hence the name "pschitt") or internally (back into the intake manifold).
