How Does Subaru DCCD Work?

Driver’s Control Center Differential (DCCD) allows you to adjust the center differential locking of the WRX STI and optimize its handling. It adjusts both an electromagnetic multi-plate transfer clutch and the mechanical locking of a limited-slip differential (LSD) to distribute torque between the front and rear wheels. Auto mode identifies the ideal power distribution for changing conditions, while Auto [+] mode keeps more power to the front axle for increased traction. Auto [-] mode transfers more power to the rear axle for better cornering grip, and the six-step manual mode allows you to set the driver’s preferred handling characteristics.

For optimal operation, clutch discs inside the DCCD unit must be able to transfer torque, especially when the engine is modified for increased power. That is why RacingDiffs Ltd developed and tested performance upgrade plates capable of transferring more than 1000 hp. This kit is a direct replacement for the original plates, so no modifications are required.

With this kit, you will not only regain the performance of your limited-slip differential, but you will significantly improve it. Our clutch plates have a molybdenum-ceramic coating, which is far superior to any factory metal plates. There is no risk of metal shavings occurring, as happens with metal plates. The operating temperature is reduced by 15%, which increases the durability of the differential in extreme conditions and high-power applications.
