AEM has updated its water/methanol injection systems for gasoline and turbo diesel engines again, this time with an innovative injector design that improves atomization for faster intake charge temperature cooling and uses less fluid to maintain cooling. This notable improvement in injector technology is combined with a new 100% waterproof water/methanol injection pump design, ensuring its safety for mounting in the engine bay and chassis. The V3 injector replaces the old V2 injector in all AEM water/methanol injection systems and can be purchased as an upgrade for existing systems.

BENEFITS OF AEM WATER/METHANOL INJECTION SYSTEM

Water/methanol injection for forced induction (turbocharged or supercharged) gasoline race engines is a proven method for effectively reducing engine intake air temperatures and suppressing harmful detonation. This allows tuners to reliably increase boost and advance ignition timing—without using high-octane race fuel—for power gains of up to 20%. AEM’s water/methanol injection systems use the most robust hardware combined with more advanced features than any other similarly priced water/methanol system.

Water/Methanol for All Boost Levels on Forced Induction Gasoline Race Engines

AEM offers two different water/methanol controller designs for gasoline vehicles:

One is boost-dependent for forced induction vehicles up to 35 PSI (PN 30-3300 kit). The boost-dependent controller features an on-board manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor with a molded-in nipple for a boost hose pick-up.

The second controller (PN 30-3350 kit) features a multi-input design that allows users to install AEM’s water/methanol injection kit on ultra-high boost (above 35 PSI) vehicles using an external 0-5v voltage-based MAP sensor.
Robust, Easy-to-Use Controller Designs

The new controller designs (Boost Dependent Kit PN 30-3300 & Multi-Input Kit PN 30-3350) feature large, turn-resistant knobs and larger numbering to easily set accurate start and full activation points. They include a status LED and test buttons that are protected for added splash resistance. The controller housing has a plug for mating to the redesigned wiring harness’s positive-lock connector. The boost dependent controller housing has a molded-in barb fitting to accept a boost hose and a wiring legend on the back. Both housings include an integrated, easy-to-access fuse and molded mounting tabs.

Simplified Wiring

AEM’s Water/Methanol Injection Kit’s wiring harness is terminated with a positive-lock connector on one end and has color-coded wires to ease installation. Both the pump and ground wires for the pump are included in the harness, simplifying the wiring process and eliminating any chance of the pump accidentally activating from a short in the system. An additional wire is included for adding an optional on/off solenoid to stop fluid flow when the system is inactive.

Integrated "Boost Safe" Feature

The AEM Water/Methanol system controllers include an integrated "Boost Safe" output feature that monitors the entire injection system and triggers a ground output via a pin if it detects a voltage-related error (short, bad connection, broken wire, overheated pump, high or low voltage signal, etc.). This allows users to define their safety strategy, from something as simple as turning on a warning light to more advanced strategies like reducing boost or ignition timing, or switching fuel maps on a standalone engine management system. Combined with the integrated and highly accurate conductive low-level fluid switch in the tank, "Boost Safe" can also put the engine into a safe mode before the system runs out of fluid. This exclusive feature is found only on AEM Water/Methanol injection systems.

Heavy-Duty High Pressure Injection Pump

AEM’s internally by-passed water/methanol injection pump does not cycle on and off and provides quiet, smooth operation. It features robust construction, including integral hose connections, EPDM seals, and a Santoprene diaphragm that provides consistent and reliable fluid delivery.

Low-Profile 4.5 Liter (1.15 Gallon) Tank

AEM’s gasoline water/methanol injection systems are available with or without a compact 4.5 liter (1.15 gallon) tank with a fluid slosh reservoir to prevent fluid starvation. A more accurate, conductive low-level fluid sensor is integrated into the tank and features a positive lock connector with color-matched wires to the wiring harness. The sensor eliminates any chance of incorrect readings due to interference from debris.

Solid Aluminum Machined Injector & Nozzles

AEM includes a precision-machined solid aluminum injector in its gasoline water/methanol injection kit. It features an integral check valve to prevent unintended fluid flow. Three solid aluminum machined injector nozzles are included to tune water/methanol flow for your engine’s power output.
Revised Flow Control Strategy for More Linear Fluid Delivery

AEM engineers spent a lot of time redesigning the controller’s flow control strategy for a more linear flow delivery. This means that the flow delivery better matches the engine’s need for water/methanol injection, further optimizing intake air cooling and detonation control.

Progressive, boost-dependent, and multi-input (0-5V/frequency) controllers feature large adjustment knobs, an integrated harness plug, an integrated fuse, a protected status LED, and a test button for increased splash resistance, plus mounting tabs.

The wiring harness is terminated with a positive-lock connector on one end, with color-coded wires for easy installation, an integrated pump ground circuit, and an additional wire for an optional on/off fluid solenoid.

The heavy-duty high-pressure injection pump features integral connections, a Santoprene diaphragm, and EPDM seals to resist corrosion. Our pump maximizes line pressure for optimal atomization, and its quiet, smooth operation is virtually imperceptible.

Reduces air charge temperature.

"Liquid intercooling" with water/methanol injection refers to a highly atomized mist of water/methanol being injected into the air stream and beginning to evaporate. This evaporation effect reduces the air charge temperature by up to 50 degrees Celsius and provides a more oxygen-rich air charge. Reduces detonation (knock).

Water absorbs heat, and methanol is a cool-burning fuel with anti-detonant properties. When combined and injected into the intake flow, they effectively increase your vehicle's anti-detonant rating, allowing you to increase boost and advance ignition timing with conventional gasoline.

Reduces carbon deposits.

Modern vehicles equipped with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems for emissions control encourage carbon buildup in the intake. This buildup can create hot spots in the combustion chambers that can lead to detonation. Water/methanol injection has a cleaning effect that reduces carbon buildup and, in some cases, can improve fuel economy.
