OVERVIEW: An oil catch can is essential to protect the engine from high levels of crankcase blow-by caused by aggressive driving. Excess oil saturated air recirculating back into the air intake can lead to diminished performance. Radium Engineering catch cans feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, two-stage oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick.

PLATFORM SPECIFICS: The catch cans are strategically placed for compatibility with both right-hand drive (RHD) and left-hand drive (LHD) versions. For RHD installations, a small adjustment to the brake line is necessary. For mounting, the kits use factory brackets and holes in the chassis. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications to the vehicle are required.

The two catch can kits are completely independent of each other and are sold individually or together. They do not vent to atmosphere (VTA), making them emissions compliant and track legal. Closed loop systems recirculate clean, filtered air through the engine for combustion and to promote negative crankcase pressure, which optimizes performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the passenger cabin.

Oil Catch Can Kit 20-0901-FL, PCV, FR-S/BRZ/GT86, with Fluid Lock. The 20-0901-FL PCV kit mounts on the right side of the engine compartment.
This catch can plumbs in-line with the 3/8" PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. When manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes, and therefore this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience controlled vacuum when the engine is idling, cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after high load operation.

This catch can plumbs in-line with the 1/2" vent port. At low loads, it experiences atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is at high load (wide open throttle), this hose experiences vacuum and would normally draw crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the air filter inlet pipe. If the engine is turbocharged or supercharged and oil accumulation in the intercooler is observed, this catch can is indispensable, as oil reduces the thermal efficiency of the heat exchange process.
