Dual Catch Can Kit for Nissan R32 GT-R Fluid Lock Radium Engineering

ABSTRACT This Radium Engineering Dual Catch Can Kit is specifically designed for the RB26DETT engine. Meticulous measurements and considerations were taken to achieve a proper system. It retains an authentic PCV system and includes catch cans for both the PCV valve and the crankcase ventilation (CCV) system. The catch cans are NOT vented to atmosphere (VTA), thus making them emissions compliant and legal for track use. Closed loop systems remove oil and sludge from PCV gasses before they reach the engine for combustion. A closed-loop system also promotes negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the passenger compartment.

Two dual-ended push-on fittings are provided to replace the crankcase vents on the valve covers. Additionally, this system balances crankcase intake and exhaust with a large bore 10AN crossover hose, as intended by Nissan engineers.

These quick connect SAE fittings are lightweight, streamlined, and easy to install and maintain.
Each oil catch can features oversized 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, a two-stage oil separation system, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. They are installed using the factory bolt holes and integrate seamlessly with surrounding components. The integrated dipsticks on the cans allow for easy inspection of the accumulated fluid. No additional check valve is required, as Radium oil catch cans are pressure sealed. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications are required.

PCV CATCH CAN: The PCV catch can mounts to the threaded studs on the front right strut tower. It is installed inline between the crankcase vents located on the valve cover and the PCV valve in the vacuum plenum. Large 5/8" hose and 10AN fittings are provided for both ends of the catch can.
When intake manifold pressure is at or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes and, therefore, this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV hoses will experience "metered" vacuum when the engine is idling, cruising, and decelerating. This would typically pull unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after high-load operation.
CRANKCASE VENTILATION (CCV) CATCH CAN: The CCV oil catch can mounts to the wiper motor on the left side of the firewall.

To maintain factory functionality, the CCV oil catch can is installed inline between the crankcase vents on the valve cover and the turbocharger inlet pipe. Large 5/8" hose and 10AN fittings are provided for both ends of the can. At low loads, it experiences atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is under high load (wide open throttle), the line experiences high flow from the crankcase to the intake system. This typically results in oil and sludge accumulation in the air filter inlet pipe. This oil accumulation extends and is found in the intercooler, reducing the heat exchanger's thermal efficiency and decreasing performance. The crankcase ventilation (CCV) catch can captures these contaminants, allowing clean, filtered air to return to the intake system.
