S2000 CATCH CAN KIT: Radium Engineering offers two independent S2000 catch can kits, sold individually or as a pair. They are not VTA (vent-to-atmosphere), so they are emissions compliant and track legal. Closed loop systems recirculate clean, filtered air back into the engine for combustion and to promote negative crankcase pressure, thus achieving optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the passenger compartment.
The 20-0097-FL Crankcase Catch Can Kit connects in-line with the 1/2" valve cover vent port. At low loads, it experiences atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is under high load (WOT), this hose experiences vacuum and would normally draw crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the air filter intake pipe. If the engine is turbocharged or supercharged and oil accumulation is observed in the intercooler, this catch can is indispensable, as oil reduces the thermal efficiency of the heat exchange process.

The 20-0098-FL PCV Catch Can Kit includes two mounting brackets. One of the brackets is omitted if the crankcase vent kit is also used. This catch can connects in-line with the 3/8" PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. When intake manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes, and therefore this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV valve hose will experience controlled vacuum when the engine is at idle, low-load cruise, and deceleration. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after high-load operation. Note: Because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, they are also excellent for turbocharged applications, so they are allowed to be connected to the intake manifold. For optimal engine protection, Radium recommends the 20-0099-FL S2000 Twin Catch Can Kit, which utilizes both the crankcase and PCV catch cans.
