Starting in 2004, with the Gen IV LS engines, General Motors replaced the PCV valve with a fixed 2.5mm orifice. This measure was presumably taken to save on production costs and eliminate a part that required servicing. NOTE: The PCV valve serves multiple functions in the crankcase; it promotes negative pressure and prevents over-pressure. Furthermore, in the event of an exhaust backfire, the PCV valve prevents combustible vapors from igniting in the crankcase. The Radium Engineering PCV catch can kit upgrades the LSA crankcase ventilation system. The catch can installs inline between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. The included bracket replaces the OEM intercooler coolant fill bracket, allowing the catch can to be mounted. When the intake manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes and thus this hose experiences no flow. Conversely, the PCV valve hoses will experience \"metered\" vacuum when the engine is idling, steady state cruising, and decelerating. This would normally draw unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after high-load operation. Because the OEM 2.5mm orifice is restrictive, a replacement baffled oil cap is included to evacuate as much blow-by from the crankcase as possible.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eINCLUDES: Baffled oil catch can, replacement baffled oil cap, aluminum PCV valve with O-ring, CTS-V specific mounting bracket, AN adapters and hose ends, stainless steel hardware, Radium PCV hose.
