COMPATIBILITY Nissan Silvia (S15) Nissan 200SX (S15)

Radium Engineering Catch Cans feature oversized 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, two-stage oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick. These kits install using factory holes and integrate seamlessly with surrounding components. They do not vent to atmosphere (VTA), so they are emissions compliant and legal for track use. Closed-loop systems remove oil and sludge from PCV gasses before they reach the engine for combustion. A closed-loop system also promotes a negative crankcase pressure for optimal performance. Furthermore, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the passenger compartment. Dipsticks integrated into the cans allow for easy inspection of accumulated fluid. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications are required.

When the intake manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes, and this hose therefore experiences no flow. Conversely, PCV hoses experience metered vacuum when the engine is idling, cruising, and decelerating. This would typically draw unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately following high-load operation.

To maintain factory functionality, the crankcase ventilation system (CCV) catch can installs in-line between the crankcase vent port (CCV) and the intake tube. At low loads, it is subject to atmospheric pressure. However, when the engine is under high load (WOT), the line experiences high flow from the crankcase into the intake system. This would typically cause oil and sludge to accumulate in the air filter intake tube. This oil accumulation would spread and be found in the intercooler, which reduces the heat exchanger's thermal efficiency and decreases performance. The CCV system catch can captures this blow-by, and facilitates returning clean, filtered air to the intake system.
