OVERVIEW: An oil catch can is essential for protecting the engine from high levels of crankcase blow-by accumulated from aggressive driving. Excess oil saturated air recirculating back into the air intake can lead to a decrease in performance. Radium Engineering oil catch cans feature large 10AN ORB ports, a 4AN ORB drain port, two-stage oil separation baffling, and an O-ring sealed dipstick.

PLATFORM SPECIFICS: The oil catch cans are strategically located to be compatible with both right-hand drive (RHD) and left-hand drive (LHD) versions. On RHD installations, a small adjustment to the brake line is required. For mounting, the kits use factory brackets and holes in the chassis. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modifications to the vehicle are required.

The two oil catch can kits are completely independent of each other and are sold individually or together. They do not vent to the atmosphere (VTA), so they comply with emission standards and are legal for track use. Closed-loop systems recirculate clean, filtered air through the engine for combustion and to promote negative crankcase pressure, which optimizes performance. Additionally, closed systems prevent unwanted oil vapors from entering the cabin.

This oil catch can is connected in-line with the 3/8" PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve. When intake manifold pressure is near or above atmospheric pressure, the PCV check valve closes, and therefore this hose does not experience flow. Conversely, the PCV hose will experience controlled vacuum when the engine is at idle, cruising, and decelerating. This would typically draw unwanted crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the intake manifold immediately after high-load operation.

This oil catch can connects in-line with the 1/2" vent port. At low loads, it experiences atmospheric pressure, but when the engine is under high load (wide open throttle), this hose experiences vacuum and typically draws crankcase vapors, unburnt fuel, and oil sludge into the air filter intake duct. If the engine is turbocharged or supercharged and oil accumulation is observed in the intercooler, this oil catch can is indispensable, as oil reduces the thermal efficiency of the heat exchange process.
