Water/Methanol Injection System for High-Compression Gasoline Engines, Both Naturally Aspirated and Supercharged
AEM offers two different water/methanol controller designs.
Robust and User-Friendly Controllers
The new controllers feature large, rotationally resistant knobs and larger numbering for easily and accurately setting start and full activation points. They include a status LED and protected test buttons for increased splash resistance. The controller housing incorporates a connector to mate with the redesigned wiring harness's positive-lock connector. The boost-pressure controller housing features a molded barbed nozzle for connecting a boost hose and a wiring legend on the back. The multi-input controller has an easy-to-remove plug covering the programming DIP switches and a programming legend on the back for 0-5V and frequency-based settings. Both controller housings include an easily accessible integrated fuse and molded mounting tabs.
Boost Safe Function
These new controllers retain the "Boost Safe" injection safety system, which activates an output in the event of a short circuit, loss of continuity, high or low voltage, or low fluid level. This allows users to define their safety strategy, from a simple warning light to more advanced strategies such as boost pressure reduction or ignition cut, or switching fuel maps on a standalone engine management system.
Simplified Wiring
The new wiring harness terminates with a positive-lock connector at one end and features color-coded wires for easy installation. The harness includes an integrated pump ground circuit that simplifies the wiring process and eliminates any possibility of the pump accidentally activating due to a short circuit in the system. An extra wire is included for adding an optional on/off solenoid that stops fluid flow when the system is inactive.
Improved Injector Flow and Nozzle Sizes
AEM engineers dedicated a great deal of time to redesigning the controller's flow control strategy to achieve more linear flow delivery. This means that the flow better matches the engine's water/methanol injection needs, further optimizing intake air cooling and knock control. Each kit includes three resized injectors that allow for greater flow (a flow chart can be viewed on our website).
New Low Fluid Level Indicator
The reservoir incorporates a conductive and more accurate low fluid level sensor, with a positive-lock connector and wires that are the same color as the wiring harness. The sensor eliminates any possibility of incorrect readings due to debris interference.
