Forge Carbon Direct Intake Kit for Golf Mk7 GTE
This product is ideally installed in conjunction with the FMDV1-GTE (1.2/1.4 TSI) diverter valve. If purchased separately, the turbo inlet hose will press against the adjacent original intake pipe, and it may be necessary to trim the turbo inlet leg of the FMINDK14 intake hose to avoid kinking.
With this sleek and exclusive design, you'll enjoy a carbon fiber housing that seamlessly integrates into your engine bay, providing enhanced power and torque. It includes a coupler machined from a solid billet, crafted to exact tolerances at Forge's workshop in Gloucester, UK, ensuring a perfect fit.
The Design
Following the success of the carbon fiber intake for the Golf Mk7, Forge offers the "Hi-Flow" range and presents an affordable option for the 1.4 TSI and GTE engine market.
They conducted extensive market research, interviewing tuners and owners of the vehicles where they wanted to install the intake. They concluded that instead of creating a full carbon fiber intake system, the best product would be a carbon fiber air intake and airbox lid that fit the original airbox.
To ensure the highest product quality, and after a thorough design and development process, they turned to one of the world's leading carbon fiber manufacturers, whose products range from Formula 1 aerodynamic components to car bodies and aircraft wings.
The tools were CNC machined from solid aluminum to ensure a flawless finish. This allows Forge to create a perfect airbox using the autoclave technique during the manufacturing process of the 2x2 twill carbon fiber.
Instead of using vacuum (also known as liquid infusion) to introduce resin into the mold and then stretch the carbon fiber into shape, the autoclave technique is employed in the manufacturing of this exquisitely designed product. This technique involves applying up to 10 bar of pressure in a solid aluminum mold to expel the material. This high pressure ensures that the material is in full contact with the mold surface.
Therefore, ensuring a dense, solid, and strong weave, this process also guarantees the absence of imperfections in the product.
The mold is then heated to cure the resin, giving it up to eight times the tensile strength of mild steel, but with much less weight.
After dedicating so much time to the development of carbon and silicone, Forge focused on the equally important aspect of filtration.
Following the Flow
With the design of the lid and air intake complete, Forge Motorsport moved on to the hose and filter. There's no point in creating such an efficient system only to have it limited by the original hose and filter. Therefore, for the filter, they turned to their partners and experts in filtration control: Pipercross!
With over 25 years of experience in both the domestic and racing markets, they recommended a multi-layered foam filter. These filters perform perfectly in the high-flow range. The included oversized filter allows 30% more air to pass through than the original and fits perfectly into the housing. This combination is unbeatable.
Forge Motorsport's high-flow intake hose, coupled with the carbon airbox, removes the highly restrictive, noise-limiting plastic intake pipe and replaces it with our smooth bore, multi-ply silicone hose, which increases airflow, improving efficiency and performance. This results in an increase of up to 10 HP, a noticeable gain for an easy-to-install modification.
The Forge silicone hose in this kit has been designed to include a high-quality modified silicone inner liner, known as fluorosilicone. Key Features
