With the right modifications, the N54 inline-six engine is capable of producing considerable power, but the extra heat it generates is often enough to overwhelm the standard cooling system, resulting in significant power losses during spirited driving due to increased air temperatures and the need for long cool-down times.
The MMX Performance intercooler is a direct-fit replacement unit that uses a high-efficiency bar-and-plate core, specifically designed to maximize performance in BMW 135i, 335i, and 1M models.

Optimized high-flow cast end tanks, coupled with the increased core volume, reduce intake temperatures by approximately 20°C and typically add about 20 HP, even with standard boost pressure.

Our development focused on finding the perfect balance between maximum intake temperature cooling and minimum pressure drop. This allowed us to increase the size without increasing lag.
