It is designed with a 5:1 torque bias ratio, meaning that if one wheel loses traction, the wheel with better grip can receive five times more torque than the spinning wheel. However, five times zero is still zero, so all these helical limited-slip differentials work best when both wheels are on the ground and the spinning wheel still retains some traction. In practice, this is rarely an issue as there is always some resistance on the spinning wheel; nonetheless, some drivers skillfully use left-foot braking to partially lock the spinning wheel.
