An important first step in reducing unwanted, power-robbing under-hood heat is to wrap your headers and exhaust pipes. Less under-hood radiant heat results in a cooler air charge for improved performance, and keeping exhaust gases hotter within the exhaust system helps in decreasing exhaust density and increases exhaust flow.

NOTE: Wrapping of the catalytic converter is not recommended as overheating may decrease its lifespan. Instead, try our Corvette Cat Shield or make your own shield using our Floor & Tunnel Shield II™.

Caution Note:

Wrap is not designed to be moved or removed after heat cycling. Once heated, fibers lose their initial flexibility. This does not reduce the thermal properties of the wrap. Please keep this in mind prior to removal. For this reason, avoid wrapping flexible pipes or flexible joints.

Titanium exhaust systems note:

DEI DOES NOT recommend wrapping titanium exhausts. Alloys used in the making of titanium exhaust systems are typically thin and designed to dissipate heat quickly. Wrapping any titanium exhaust pipe, regardless of the brand, can trap too much heat and cause the titanium alloy to become brittle and prone to premature cracking. If you are looking to reduce heat on a titanium exhaust system, DEI recommends using alternatives such as our flexible heat shields.
