The main cause of DSG gearbox failure is overheating. Even car designers point to this problem, which is corrected in the new DSG gearboxes, where the oil filter housing is made of corrugated steel aluminum to improve heat dissipation.
Furthermore, a common failure of the factory filter housing on the DSG 7 is deformation during removal, which leads to oil leaks.
The best solution is to replace the DSG 7 plastic filter housing with the RTMG one, manufactured entirely from high-quality aluminum, which is much more durable than the original plastic one, thus solving cracking and deformation problems. Last but not least, the materials and the additional aluminum fin housing ensure optimal heat dissipation.
