CANchecked CBD08 - CAN Bus Hub

The CBD08, short for "CAN Bus Distributor" with 8 connections, why do you need this module?

Connecting CAN Bus devices in your vehicle can be quite a challenge. It involves routing and connecting CAN Bus wires efficiently, powering devices, and finding the right way to terminate the CAN Bus. Plus, you often need multiple CAN Busses to cover different needs, such as the drive CAN Bus, comfort CAN Bus, and a programming CAN Bus (USB2CAN), among others.

To solve this problem, CANchecked has developed a practical add-on module with 8 connections. Each connection carries four wires: CAN High, CAN Low, 12 V, and ground.

The hardware of the CBD08: At a mere 96 x 47 x 33 mm, the housing is incredibly compact and fits practically anywhere. The connectors are designed based on the popular DTM04-4P. Optionally, the compatible mating connectors, DTM06-4S, can be purchased to complete the setup. For installation, two holes are provided in the middle, and the two included screws can be used.

CBD08 configuration options

Beneath the bottom cover, jumpers are located on the circuit board:

On the left side, JP3 and JP4 connect both CAN Busses (CAN Bus 1 and CAN Bus 2). By removing both jumpers, both CAN Busses are separated, each with four connections.

JP1 activates the termination for CAN Bus 1.

JP2 activates the termination for CAN Bus 2.

Optionally, the housing can be fitted with a 12 V/Ground supply cable. This cable can then be connected to the other ports to supply power to the end devices. However, devices with higher power consumption should not be powered via the unit. In such cases, connect them only via the CAN Bus lines and establish a separate power supply.

If you choose the default configuration, all 8 CAN Bus connections are interconnected, and both CAN Bus termination resistors are activated.
