Dynamic Lug Drive Big Brake Rotors - Flared Bell
Wilwood’s new Dynamic Lug Drive Big Brake rotors incorporate a new mounting system that eliminates bolts and allows the rotors to float independently of the hats as they expand and contract through heat cycles. All thermally generated stress at the rotor attachment points is eliminated. The rotors remain flatter and run truer. Brake response and pedal feel remain consistent. Pad knock-back and rotor drag are eliminated. Rotors no longer warp from the stresses generated by thermal expansion and contraction of the rotors. All issues associated with thermal warpage are eliminated, including bolt hole misalignment issues when trying to reinstall new rotors on a used hat.
Replaceable spring-loaded stainless steel inserts at each drive slot protect the aluminum hat from wear that would otherwise occur from the stainless steel rotor pressing against the hat under braking torque. A large, single retaining ring holds the rotor to the hat, which makes assembly and installation extremely easy. It is no longer necessary to torque and safety wire rotor mounting bolts. Already light, the stainless steel alloy rotors are further drilled to remove unnecessary rotational mass from the drivetrain.
