The BMW M5 S38 3.8L H-beam connecting rods are manufactured from high-strength 4340 steel and designed for high performance and extreme durability. The bushings are made of aluminum-silicon/bronze and feature a radial groove that acts as an oil reservoir. These connecting rods have a grooved pin end that minimizes pin end deformation under high inertial loads while reducing weight. They undergo shot peening to relieve material stress and multi-stage heat treatment to increase rigidity. Strict production tolerances ensure a perfect fit and optimize oil clearances. Bending and twisting are strictly controlled. Each connecting rod includes ARP 2000 cap fasteners rated at 220,000 psi, with optional ARP L19 material rated at 260,000 psi available as an upgrade, and the entire kit is supplied with ARP moly lubricant and complete assembly instructions. Additional machining processes: pin bushings for a perfect fit and precise reassembly, flanged cap relief for greater big end integrity in extreme applications, thrust face grooves for weight reduction.
