There are many important reasons to use ARP main stud kits, including the elimination of main bearing cap walk and fretting, as well as the protection of the block threads. All kits come complete with parallel-ground hardened washers and high-quality nuts. Some applications feature oil baffle supports and specially designed stand-off studs with serrated locknuts to position the baffle and securely fasten it. The studs are made from 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated in-house to achieve a tensile strength of 190,000 psi, and precision J-form threads are rolled after heat treatment to create a fastener with threads 2000% stronger than others.
