This kit includes 380mm discs (requires at least 19" wheels) and brake calipers in a stunning gloss GTI red finish. RacingLine's design vision was made possible by their advanced 5-axis CNC manufacturing techniques, giving this kit more in common with high-end motorsport components than typical aftermarket parts. The result is a combination of ultimate track performance with light weight, stiffness and exquisite attention to detail. Each light and compact Forged Monoblock caliper is a monoblock construction that starts with a single, ultra-strong forged billet. Rather than two bolted-together halves, the design requires a complex 5-axis CNC machining process to construct each caliper as a single-piece, a technique usually reserved only for the very highest specification competition kits. The result is a 6-piston caliper that is stiffer and lighter than any other, combined with exceptional cooling characteristics and a stunning finish. The robustness of this construction allows for thin-profile calipers that, in addition to providing extreme stiffness and light weight, facilitate crucial wheel clearance. As RacingLine's kit is exclusively designed for VWG vehicles (rather than generic calipers offered by others), they have invested considerable development time to define piston sizes perfectly to match VWG master cylinders and servos, thus achieving progressive and precise pedal response. Despite the size of these calipers, they weigh significantly less than stock. The caliper, pads and bracket assembly weigh 5.3kg (11.7lbs) versus 8.6kg (18.9lbs) for the stock Golf 7R/S3 equivalent. The RacingLine kit gives you the choice of either 355mm or 380mm triple-grooved two-piece floating brake discs, which provide much greater thermal capacity, thereby reducing the effect of brake fade. These high-quality cast carbon floating discs are made from a mixture of high-grade steel combined with carbon, giving a much higher coefficient of friction compared to normal steel discs. The floating mounting between the disc and the top hat allows for thermal expansion and contraction to prevent cracking. Anti-rattle mounts keep noise down. The 355mm disc kit requires 18” or larger wheels for proper clearance; the 380mm kit requires at least 19” wheels. Composite ceramic street pads are included. RacingLine has specified a generic pad size for this kit, meaning there is a wide range of alternative pad brands and compounds available if you have your favorites or are planning heavy track use. This Stage 3 brake kit includes everything needed for installation: discs, calipers, mounting brackets, high-performance pads and braided steel lines.
