Modern EFI fuel systems generate high-frequency pressure pulsations during injector operation. The Nuke Performance Fuel Pulsation Damper (FPD) is designed to reduce these pulsations, resulting in smoother fuel pressure and more consistent fuel delivery.

Designed for EFI fuel systems operating with a base fuel pressure between 40 and 70 PSI, the FPD70s combines a precision-machined aluminum body with an optimized diaphragm and spring assembly. The fully rotating housing simplifies installation, while the integrated vacuum/boost reference keeps the diaphragm correctly positioned against changes in fuel pressure.
What is a fuel pulsation damper and how does it work?
Every time a fuel injector opens and closes, it creates a small pressure pulsation within the fuel system. Individually, these pulsations are insignificant, but together they create high-frequency pressure fluctuations that travel through the fuel rail and lines. Although they are often too fast to be detected on a conventional fuel pressure gauge, they can influence fuel pressure stability, especially in high-performance EFI systems using large injectors and high-flow fuel pumps.
A fuel pulsation damper is designed to absorb these pressure fluctuations before they propagate through the fuel system. By using an internal diaphragm, the damper smooths out pressure variations, contributing to more stable fuel pressure, more uniform fuel delivery, and a fuel system that is easier to calibrate and tune.
How do I choose the right fuel pulsation damper for my fuel system?
Choosing the right fuel pulsation damper starts with a measurement: the base fuel pressure. This pressure is measured with the fuel pump running and the vacuum hose disconnected from the pressure regulator.
Standard pressure range FPD70s fuel pulsation damper
If the measured base fuel pressure is between 40 and 70 PSI, the standard pressure range FPD70s is the recommended choice for most electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems.
Extended pressure range FPR110x fuel pulsation damper
If the base fuel pressure exceeds 70 PSI, choose the extended pressure range FPD110x, designed for fuel systems that require operation outside the standard pressure range.
Both versions incorporate a vacuum/boost reference feature, allowing the diaphragm to stay properly positioned as fuel pressure varies during engine operation. This keeps the diaphragm operating within its intended range and provides consistent damping performance across a wider pressure range.

Every fuel pulsation damper includes a 5mm vacuum hose barb fitting and a locking plug for installations where vacuum/boost reference is not required. For customers who prefer rigid plastic tubing, the optional quick-connect fitting for 6mm tubing provides a clean, secure, and quick-connect solution.

Where should a fuel pulsation damper be installed? For maximum effectiveness, a fuel pulsation damper should be installed as close to the fuel injectors as possible, as that is where the pressure pulsations originate. Therefore, direct installation on the fuel rail is the preferred solution whenever possible.

360° swivel design for easy installation
When direct mounting is not possible, Nuke Performance in-line fuel pulsation dampers offer an alternative by installing them near the fuel rail. The AN-6 ORB and AN-8 ORB versions can also be mounted directly into the auxiliary ports of Nuke Performance fuel pressure regulators, allowing for a clean and compact installation without extra adapters or unnecessary piping.
