It incorporates alternator overvoltage protection without the need for external components. There is no risk of damaging expensive electronic equipment during an emergency shutdown. The isolator is controlled by two external switches and can be turned off via a CAN-bus message. This message can be sent from an Ecumaster PMU16 unit in case of impact or other event. The device is configurable via CAN-bus. It also sends diagnostic information that can be used by other equipment and is valuable during setup and diagnosis. It is fully protected against overheating and overcurrent.
